Congratulations to Ridgewood High School winners in our
“Letters From History” Writing Contest!
Each year, we invite Ridgewood High School students to write a one-page letter choosing an artifact from our annual exhibit. This year the exhibit was “Here Comes the Bride—Two-hundred years of wedding customs & traditions.” Students were asked to write from the point of view of a fictionalized person to a friend/relative in Ridgewood. Winners were chosen based on their ability to relate common human experiences in the context of a specific historical moment.
Congratulations to first place winner, Megumi Tamura, who read her letter at the BOE meeting last night and was awarded the $100 cash prize! We also congratulate 2nd place winner, Lydia Han and 3rd place winner, Matt Winnert. Awards were presented by the Ridgewood Historical Society’s high school liaisons Amelia Safai and Zachary Kim.
